The prime fishing waters around Ullatti are the salmon river Ängesån, which gets its water from the high mountains.
This means that the water is cold and oxygen-rich where salmonids thrive.
Ängesån are long distances shallow with gravel bottom, the river is therefore suitable, and is also well known for fly fishing with dry flies
The deeper areas and deep pits are usually holding larger Salmon or Trout
The shallower streams holds very good stocks of grayling
Calm water and the many bays along the river holds pike, which can be an exciting struggle to catch.

The water comes from two streams, Vettasjoki and Valtiojoki fifty kilometres upstream Ullatti
The river is full of so-called meanders ("curves") and the stream bed can move from year to year
Deep pits arises and disappears when the thaw takes place, which can be dramatic, and well worth a visit
Ice break is normally around 10th of May

Ängesån gets its water from several streams on its way towards Överkalix where the river is a wide and impressive river which joins Kalixälven

No exploitation of the the river by hydropower plants is found in these riversystems.

In and around Ullatti there are some smaller streams and several lakes, some of which can be challenging to get to.
The lakes usually have stocks of pike, perch and and also trout and some carps.
The streams, some of which are protected, can accommodate fine stock of trout.
